Aleah’s physical training regimen before she found CrossFit consisted mostly of boring
running and not-super-effective self-taught gym machines. She reluctantly began doing
CrossFit with some hard charging Marine Corps buddies during the heat of the day
(lunch time) in Okinawa, Japan after having her first child in 2012 and hasn’t looked
back since. CrossFit has enabled her to become stronger than she ever was prior to
having children and allowed her to have a community after leaving active duty and
continuing to move around the country with her family. She earned her Level 1
certificate in 2018 and coached at First City CrossFit, Monterey, California for a little
over a year before moving to Virginia. She became a member of CrossFit 234 after
moving to Manassas at the end of 2020 after trying other CrossFit gyms in the area,
deciding that CrossFit 234 had the best facility and community space to plant herself.
She loves coaching people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. Her favorite aspect
of coaching is watching the progress of the athletes as they consistently put in the
“work” and celebrating with them as they achieve skills they may not have thought were
possible! To Aleah, coaching is a privilege, not just another job, and loves to help
anyone and everyone. Some of her dreaded movements are thrusters and wallballs,
which she would happily replace with double unders, toes to bars, or ring muscle ups!
Outside the gym, Aleah enjoys her time as a stay-at-home parent of two daughters,
wrestles with her two dogs (one of whom frequents CF234), dabbles in martial arts,
actively serves with her husband in their church, and occasionally plays Marine as
reserve duty calls.
