Elysia is a licensed massage therapist with special certifications in Sports Massage, Spinal Reflex Therapy, and Massage for PTSD. She was a runner and an Irish dancer for many years before she found CrossFit. Instantly smitten with the variety and vibe, she’s been an avid CrossFitter since 2012 and a coach since 2016. Elysia believes that in order to be a truly effective coach, she must recognize the individuality of each athlete. What works for one person may not work for another. Getting to know people as individuals who all have their own talents, backgrounds, strengths and weaknesses is the best way to help them achieve their goals in the gym and in life. Her favorite workouts typically include a barbell, but she also enjoys pistols, rope climbs and double unders. Her absolute favorite things are Partner WODs because they provide an opportunity to learn from others, strategize and build camaraderie. Her least favorite movements are wall balls and things scored in “calories.” Elysia enjoys family time with her husband and three kids, hiking, cooking, yoga and is a budding beekeeper. If she’s sitting still she’s probably writing or reading — about everything from massage to fitness to nutrition and health.
